Summary
A marine scientist by training with 20 years’ experience in projects-programme management in the fields of marine coastal habitat-species conservation and environment sustainability, not for profit fundraising targeting community resilience building initiatives and climate change adaptation-disaster risk reduction planning and practice. As a practitioner with multidisciplinary skillset and experiential knowledge deduced from a Pacific perspective through the provision of technical support and coordination; peer learning and capacity building; applied research in aspects of tropical island biodiversity and conservation, community-based fisheries, livelihoods and ecosystem-based management approaches; communications and knowledge management of project impact results; climate change advocacy, and policy advice. This brings with it an established Pacific network that furthered meaningful connections to other sector work in agriculture, community based inshore fisheries, coastal protection and water resources management. Experience working in culturally diverse settings at an international (WWF Pacific, National Geographic Pristine Seas), regional (SPREP, FAO), national (Rotary Pacific Water Foundation/ WWF) as well as with community-based organisation (LäjeRotuma Initiative) and engaging with other indigenous groups.

Project name: UNJP/SAP/009/UNU Joint Programme ‘Accelerating Progress Towards Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment’ (JP RWEE) – Phase II & GCP/SAP/004/CAN: Client: FAO Subregional Office for Pacific Project period: Mon, 01/07/2024 - 12:00 - Thu, 31/10/2024 - 12:00 Position: Project coordinator and Gender expert Location: remotely Deliverables • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the project activities in collaboration with LTO, Policy Officer. • Manage delivery of results by using up-to-date best practices and know-how in the subject area and accordingly and monitor progress of implementation. • Review relevant documents on the requirements for gender mainstreaming, including on FAO’s Policy on Gender Equality. • Conduct a detailed gender analysis as guided to Gender Mainstreaming, particularly emphasizing gender issues in the area, country and region of intervention (e.g. gender division of labour, access to and control of resources and technologies, women’s and men’s needs and preferences, and opportunities for and constraints on women’s participation), build on FAO’s country gender assessments. • Assess and identify potential gender-differentiated impacts of the project. • Prepare capacity development plan, taking into consideration the need of women farmers, fishers, the government, nongovernment, local authorities. • Supervise the project’s capacity building efforts aimed at women farmers, fishers, government counterparts, and local authorities. • Document the experience of capacity development initiatives and monitor the achievements of capacity development initiatives and ensure follow-up support and disseminate the information on best practices. • Prepare brochures, publications, press releases for dissemination in consultation with SAP Communication Expert. • Prepare necessary reporting, including project update report and terminal report. • Coordinate project activities in the 5 project countries (Fiji, Solomon Is., Kiribati, Samoa and PNG) closely with the LTO, Operations, and National Country Experts, to ensure efficient and timely implementation of activities.
